ABOUT JOHN

Over my twenty-five year career in the writing world, I’ve had a hand in just about every facet of the industry:

• I’ve worked as a reporter, writer, and editor at several national magazines, writing on a variety of topics, from finance to media to education.

• I’ve published freelance articles in numerous magazines, including The New York Times Magazine, Rolling Stone, Inc., and Real Simple.

• I’ve acted as ghostwriter for several well-known financial pundits, bringing their ideas (and unique voices) to their monthly columns.

• I’ve written a novel (The Martin Chronicles, published by Grand Central Publishing in 2019), which was called “a marvelous debut” by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Colson Whitehead.

• I’ve worked as a writing professor at several universities, acting as teacher and mentor to hundreds of students on everything from short stories and novels to nonfiction essays and memoirs and journalism.

I draw on these varied experiences when I work with a client. As an editor and collaborator, I take tremendous joy in helping my clients tell the story they want to tell in the most effective way, while always staying true to their voice and vision. Whether you’re looking for someone to write a proposal, collaborate on a book, or fine tune a manuscript, I’ll help you bring your idea to the page.
